Adopt A Tree In Miami Dade County

Adopt a Tree in Miami Dade County

Miami-Dade County takes saving the environment seriously. And to prove this, the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources (DERM) offers an Adopt-a-Tree Program several times throughout the year. The best part of the DERM Adopt-a-Tree Program is that adopting a tree is free, so it doesn't cost you a lot of money to help save the environment. It just costs you a little time to go and pick up your tree at one of the Adopt-a-Tree events.

Instructions

1. Read the eligibility requirements for the DERM Adopt-a-Tree Program. You have to meet certain requirements to be eligible to adopt a tree through the DERM program. See the resources section below for the URL that will take you to the eligibility page of the DERM website. You can also call 305.372.6555 for a recorded message or dial 311 from your Miami-Dade County phone.

2. Find out when and where the next DERM Adopt-a-Tree event is taking place. DERM holds several Adopt-a-Tree events throughout the year. You can view a calendar of these events on the Adopt-a-Tree area of the DERM website or call the recorded message number listed in Step 1.

3. Go to the DERM Adopt-a-Tree event closest to you. Once you have read the eligibility requirements and found an Adopt-a-Tree event near you, bring any required documents that pertain to you, as listed in the eligibility requirements for the event.

4. Choose a tree to take home and plant. Once you have shown a DERM representative your required documents, you can choose the tree you want to take home and plant.

5. Plant your tree. Once you get your tree home, you are ready to plant it. See the Resources section for help on instructions and materials you'll need to successfully plant your tree.
