Collect Blankets For A Local Animal Shelter

Animal shelters are organizations constantly in need of donations and resources. One thing that they are regularly in need of is blankets. Blankets tend to be in short supply due to the number of animals a shelter must care for and the number of blankets that get regularly damaged or destroyed. Collecting blankets for your local animal shelter will be greatly appreciated.

Instructions

1. Call your animal shelter and make sure that it takes blankets. Most animal shelters will be happy to take blankets, but others have regulations on the materials they can take. It is always a good idea to verify that they can take blankets before you show up with a car full of them.

2. Call your friends and family. They say that charity starts at home, and you can get some great results just by seeing if the people close to you have blankets to donate. Ask them to spread the word about what you are doing as well.

3. Call local businesses. You never know when a local business will help sponsor you or put the call out to their employees. This is one avenue that many people forget, and it can have some amazing results.

4. Post on your webspace. If you have a blog, a MySpace account, or a Facebook account, remember that there are many people who can see it. Let them know that you are collecting blankets and the shelter that you are collecting for.

5. Post on community sites. Chances are fairly good that your city has a Craigslist or a Freecycle email list. Put your name and a way you can be contacted on these sites and let them know what you are trying to do.

6. Print out a notice about what you are trying to do and post it at your workplace. This can get your coworkers interested in helping you.

7. Pick up the blankets. If you are trying to get blankets for your local animal shelter, you will be able to collect many more if you are willing to drive to get them. Arrange pickup times for the blankets that people are willing to donate.
