Rescue A Shih Tzu In Michigan

Rescue a Shih Tzu

While it is difficult to understand how people could neglect or mistreat a Shih Tzu in Michigan, it does happen. Hundreds of purebred dogs are waiting for rescue in Michigan animal shelters or in neglectful homes. Could you rescue a Shih Tzu and offer it a forever home? While you are trying to help your new dog adjust to its home and regain its health, you will need extra time and resources. However, once healthy, your dog will repay your kindness with devotion for years to come.

Instructions

1. Visit the shelters in Michigan at least once a week to look for a Shih Tzu and email the volunteers responsible for posting the dog photos on the shelter website and Petfinder.com. These volunteers are the first to know about pets available for adoption and can send you an email before the animal’s photo is on their website. Most animal shelters in Michigan require a Michigan identification, a completed pet adoption application, three personal references, and veterinarian contact information with prepaid spay, or neuter fees and an adoption fee. While providing a home to any shelter pet is invaluable, consider rescuing a Shih Tzu from a kill shelter that the shelter would euthanize if not adopted within an established period. This kill policy includes pets that are considered too old, too sick or too aggressive for adoption.

2. Go to these shelters to rescue a Shih Tzu in Michigan because they euthanize unadoptable pets or they sell them for research. 4. Place a Shih Tzu wanted ad in your free local Shopper News, Community Advisor, or Reminder. These weekly advertising newspapers are sometimes connected, ask when you call about a discount for publishing an ad in multiple weekly papers in different counties during the same week. You can also place your want ad free on Petfinder Classifieds at http://www.petfinder.com, and your area Craig's List at http://www.craigslist.org, and Free Pet Classifieds at http://www.freepetclassifieds.com.

5. Remember animal shelters, rescues, and veterinarians are very busy and the volunteers come and go, so keep calling back, visit them in person if possible and check their websites at least once a week for new listings. Don't forget to tell your friends, neighbors, and co-workers that you are looking for a Shih Tzu.
