Youth Volunteer Job Description

According to the Youth Volunteer Corps of America (see the Resources section), a youth volunteer is a child between the ages of 11 and 18 who volunteers to work for organizations such as nonprofit health care facilities and other organizations who provide work and enrichment activities for youths.


Function


Youth volunteers provide needed support to organizations by performing a variety of tasks, which include clerical work, making telephone calls to solicit donations, providing services to people in need and other general duties to assist in business operations on a daily basis.


Organizations


Youth volunteers may work for a variety of organization types that require assistance, such as hospitals, animal shelters, human services, farming and arts and sciences.


Compensation


Youth volunteers are not paid for their services. This type of work contributes to a youth's life and professional experiences. Most organizations who hire youth volunteers provide valuable employment references for future careers.
