And for the unattached who end up there, Delaware has singles clubs to meet a variety of needs.
Delaware Singles (40+)
Delaware Singles (40+) is a nonprofit social organization of singles who are 40 years of age and older based in Wilmington. The group meets once a week for dinner at various locations. Other activities include concerts, happy hour, pool parties and movies.
Delaware Single Baby Boomers
Another singles club for those over 40 is for professional baby boomers born between the years of 1946 and 1964. Activities include dining, dancing, happy hour, concerts, and pool parties.
Single Volunteers of Greater Wilmington Area
This singles club is in its inception stage but is working hard to bring singles together while they volunteer in the community. Volunteer projects might include painting a senior center and soup kitchens. The group's website says, "this is not primarily a romantic matchmaking organization; this is a social service organization within which you may hope to make some good friends, and perhaps meet the person of your dreams."
CrossRoads
CrossRoads is a Christian singles club sponsored by Fairwinds Baptist Church, in Bear, Delaware, a suburb of Wilmington. The goal is to work with young single adults to help them discover and develop the direction of their lives. Activities include Bible study, sports, fellowship, weekend retreats and ministry activities.
Singles Enjoying the Arts
This singles club, based in Baltimore, is a nonprofit organization of single adults who attend cultural and artistic activities. Activities include trips to museums, movies, dinners and parties.
Singles on Sailboats
Singles on Sailboats is a nonprofit organization in the Delaware area for single adults. Activities include daily sailing, weekend cruises, instruction and social functions. The club, with over 700 members, is focused in and around Annapolis and the middle of the Chesapeake Bay and has members hailing from Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and points beyond. Anyone who is single and loves sailing is welcome. Experience is not necessary.
