Keep Armadillos Away Without Trapping

Armadillos usually go around obstacles rather than climb or dig.


Whether you are a homeowner or a renter, armadillo burrows in your yard cause structural problems and increase the risk of diseases. An armadillo digs up to six burrows in a yard to provide a variety of escape routes for it and its four pups. Professionals trap will remove armadillos from their burrows, and in some areas, the law permits shooting armadillos as a last resort. However, deterring their arrival and digging proves easier, less expensive and less stressful. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Clear your yard of debris and areas that attract armadillos. Wood stacks, brush piles and high grasses give armadillos. cover


2. Mow your yard frequently and avoid over-watering, because armadillos prefer to dig in damp grass.


3. Use a high-frequency pest deterrent, though ultrasonic devices also annoy pets in the area.


4. Erect a fence or wall around high-risk areas, such as your garden, shed or entire yard. The fence must start at least 12 inches below ground or armadillos will dig under it. The barrier must rise at least 2 feet above the ground and preferably angle out from the yard or have a large lip to stop armadillos from climbing over it.


5. Erect a small electric fence a few inches above the ground to deter armadillos.
