A negg is an unusual class of item in the Neopets world. It can be a food or a weapon, or it can be traded to the Negg Faerie. Neggs also inspire trading cards, foods, decorations and books.
The Neggery
The Negg Faerie will accept plain colored neggs, such as purple or orange, and trade you for negg tokens. These can be used to trade for more powerful neggs.
Eating Neggs
Most neggs can be eaten, and also can increase certain statistics for your pet, such as speed, defense or strength. See the References for a guide to each negg.
Getting Neggs
While you can get them from the Negg Faerie, you also can run across neggs in random events, or you can buy them, using the Shop Wizard, if you have the neopoints. This is usually cheaper than using tokens.
Types
Some neggs are used as Battledome weapons. These include the evil negg, the fireball negg and the ice storm negg.
Warning
Some neggs hurt your pet or have unexpected effects. The vortex negg can change your pet's color, and the glamour negg decreases your pet's intelligence.
Value
Neggs that help your pet usually cost more. For example, the cool negg, which adds one or two levels and corresponding statistic increases to your pet, costs 247 tokens, and is priced around 350,000 neopoints on the Neopian Trading Post.
