In the Sims 2, residential lots for your Sims automatically feature an outdoor garbage can. These garbage cans should remain there throughout the course of the game. However, two incidents may occur that will cause you to need to replace the outdoor trash can. One, a meteor may hit the house and the trash can. Even after you repair the house, the trash can may remain dirty and cause your Sims to be in a negative mood. This is a glitch in the game. Two, while in move object mode, you may accidentally move the trash can off the lot. The same troubleshooting process works for both cases.
Instructions
1. Reload your last saved game before the trash can disappeared or became irreparably dirty through a meteor strike. If you do not have a recently saved version of the game, continue to the next step.
2. Save your game under a new name if your trash can has disappeared. Quit your game. Load the new game you just saved. The trash can should have regenerated. If not, continue to the next step.
3. Visit the website daydream.etowns.net. Click on the Sims 2 icon. Click on mods/hacks. Download the Lot Setup Collection mod. Download this mod in the Sims 2 folder hierarchy under the folder called Collections. Unzip it. Open Sims 2 and your saved game with the messed up trash can. Click on the SEDD Lot Set Up icon. Buy a new outdoor trash can.
