"The Sims 2: Pets" is an add-on to the "The Sims 2" PC game. With it, players can create virtual pets that offer new methods of interaction, such as pet jobs or breeding. The add-on also gives you the ability to become a werewolf.
What are the Pets?
There are two general types of pets to buy in "Sims 2: Pets," simple and complex. Simple pets are fish, womrats and birds, which cost no more than $20 and require little interaction. Complex pets include cats and dogs and have the same attributes as any uncontrolled Sim family member, with one exception: The "environment" option is replaced with "scratch" for cats and "chew" for dogs.
How Do You Get a Pet?
The standard procedure for getting a pet is by buying one from the pet store, but with complex pets there are several more options: calling a pet adoption center, developing a relationship with a stray, buying one from a Sim player, or through the Create-A-Sim (CAS) function. With CAS, you can select the pet's breed, size, accessories and more.
What are the Pets Like?
Every pet has five traits that vary depending on its astrological sign and the way you allocate the trait points. The traits are shown as level meters: genius to doofus, hyper to lazy, independent to friendly, aggressive to cowardly and pigpen to finicky. The higher point value you assign toward either end, the more your pet will behave accordingly.
How Long Do Pets Live?
Like human Sims, pets age daily, although a pet ages at 11 a.m. rather than 6 p.m. Pets stay in the kitten or puppy stage for four days, in the adult stage for 21 days (large pets) or 24 days (small pets) and in the elderly stage for five to 10 days. When a pet dies, it leaves behind a tombstone or an urn. The only way to extend a pet's life is to use an "aspiration" reward to restore five days of life.
Can They Have Babies?
Breeding can be accomplished if two pets are the same species and size, have decent relationship status with each other and have a pet house for privacy. Once their relationship is in good standing, choose the "Try for kitten/puppy" option to select its mate. After a brief relationship between the two animals, your pet will be pregnant, which lasts no more than two days, and will give birth to one to four babies.
How Can You Become a Werewolf?
You can become a werewolf by waiting for the Leader of the Pack, a stray dog with glowing eyes, and build a relationship level of 60 in one sitting. He will then bite you and you will gain the condition of "lycanthropy." Once a werewolf, you can summon wolves, howl and train pets faster.
