You love your dog and give him the run of the house. Now you're running around behind him cleaning up all the time. Many breeds shed, and there's the general dirt factor of a dog. Maintain your dog's general appearance and it will be much easier to keep the house clean.
Instructions
1. Brush the dog regularly to cut down on hair on floors and furniture. Brushing removes loose hair and dirt and distributes the dog's natural oils throughout her coat.
2. Take your dog outdoors if possible for grooming sessions. Use a grooming glove or a rubber curry brush on a dog that doesn't like brushing. Use a shedding blade on dogs with a heavy undercoat.
3. Bathe your dog to cut down on odors in the house. A monthly bath is usually sufficient unless the situation warrants an additional bath.
4. Use a shampoo "formulated for veterinarian use," which won't strip the natural oils from your dog's coat. These mild shampoos clean well and minimize irritation.
5. Feed your dog out of stainless steel or ceramic bowls. Both can go into the dishwasher for easy cleaning and better hygiene.
6. Purchase toys and a dog bed that are easy to wash and dry. Like you, your dog prefers a fresh bed and clean belongings.
