Boy scout troops choose whether or not to wear a neckerchief and which neckerchief they will wear. The members of each troop decide this by vote. The neckerchief is always a right-triangle of fabric. Many different types are available and some councils may even design their own. Buy a slide to hold the folded fabric in place or make one yourself. Fold the top of the neckerchief instead of rolling it so that it will lie flat against your shoulders.
Instructions
1. Lay the neckerchief out on the table with the right side down and the corner with the insignia at the bottom.
2. Fold 1 inch of the top edge down. Continue folding down 1 inch folds until the distance from the top edge to the bottom point is 6 inches.
3. Place the neckerchief around your neck with the right side facing out and the long ends of the triangle hanging down in front. The folds will be underneath. The neckerchief may be worn under or over the collar.
4. Slip a slide over the long ends of the neckerchief that are hanging down in front and pull the slide up until it fits snugly.
