"The Sims 2: Pets" is an expansion pack to the PC game "The Sims 2." A large part of any "Sims" game is the created content created and distributed by players. The best way to make sure your custom content will show is to remove it during installation and replace it once installation has finished. If this is not done, your custom content may not display correctly in the game.
Instructions
1. Navigate to the "C:\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2" folder on your computer's hard drive.
2. Right-click the folder labeled "Downloads." Your custom content is stored here. Select "Cut" from the pop-up menu.
3. Right-click any empty location on your desktop. Select "Paste" from the pop-up menu.
4. Install "The Sims 2: Pets" as normal. Insert the disc into your computer's disc drive and follow all prompts.
5. Right-click the "Downloads" folder on your desktop and select "Cut" once the installation is complete.
6. Navigate back to the "C:\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2" folder. Right-click any empty spot and select "Paste." Select "OK" to any prompts that may appear.
7. Start "The Sims 2: Pets." Your custom content should now be displayed correctly in game.
