Rescue A Shih Tzu In Colorado

Shih Tzu dogs make wonderful companions. They are an indoor dog that need near constant companionship, and can live up to 14 to 18 years. If you are thinking of getting a Shih Tzu and you live in Colorado, consider rescuing one of these dogs. Your rescued Shih Tzu will appreciate the fact that you have given him a wonderful new home, and you will appreciate the fact that you do not need to house-train a puppy.


Instructions


1. Click on the link for the Colorado Shih Tzu and Maltese Rescue, a non-profit in the city of Denver that rescues and places Shih Tzus and Malteses from their owners when the owner is no longer able to provide the dog with the proper care it needs (see Resources below).


2. Click on the link marked "Adoption application." Print out the adoption application and fill it out honestly. This will assist the volunteers in finding the right dog for your particular situation.


3. Fax the application to (303) 289-2530 or mail it to Colorado Shih Tzu and Maltese Rescue, P.O. Box 29596, Thornton, CO 80229.


4. Receive confirmation that the Colorado Shih Tzu and Maltese Rescue has received you application with a follow-up phone call. You may be asked further questions similar to those on the initial application.


5. Prepare for a home visit. A representative from the Colorado Shih Tzu and Maltese Rescue will come to your home before they place a dog with you. It is recommended that all family members and other pets be present. the Colorado Shih Tzu and Maltese Rescue needs to see the environment in which this rescued animal will be living.


6. Complete the process. A Shih Tzu will be placed in your home. You will fill out the final adoption forms and send in a donation of $300 to $350, depending on the age and condition of your new lifelong companion.
