Fun Careers Working With Animals

Fun Careers Working With Animals

Someone with a desire to work with animals must have a love for them. Not all jobs are entirely fun -- for example, veterinarians often have to put down animals. But most jobs can be very enjoyable and rewarding because of the pleasure of working with animals on a daily basis. There are many careers that involve working directly with animals in many different ways.

Preventive Medicine

Preventive medicine careers include jobs as veterinarians or veterinary technicians. Those jobs can be in private practice, wildlife rehabilitation, the military, research, or zoos.

Conservation of Wildlife and Zoos

People who provide care and conservation of wildlife often work as biologists, park rangers, park managers, ecologists, conservation officers and wildlife rehabilitators, zookeepers, marine biologists, and habitat specialists.

Pet Care

There are careers in pet care that are not veterinary positions. Those could involve animal behavior, therapy and psychology, pet sitting, dog walking, or grooming.

The Arts

People who work with animals in the arts industry are often photographers, writers and artists who all focus their work on animals.

Animal Training

Animal trainers often work with people and their pets for obedience training, horse training, search and rescue, or the entertainment field. Jobs may be available through humane societies, nature centers, parks, zoos, and wildlife rehabilitation facilities.

Areas of Study

Areas of study for working with animals include agriculture, environmental science, wildlife sciences, animal welfare (law), science and technology, veterinary medicine, and psychology.
