Get Rid of Ads on Neopets
Neopia is an online community where you can create a virtual pet, or Neopet, and participate in games and adventures. Your Neopet can play games where it fights off space aliens, helps other pets escape forces of evil and completes favors for the ruling faeries. You can even adopt an abandoned Neopet from the Neopian Pound. Some of the advertisements on the website may interfere with your adventures, however. Disable the advertisements before they cause further annoyance and interruption.
Instructions
1. Download Mozilla Firefox if you do not have it already. Mozilla Firefox is a completely free browser. While Firefox is on your computer you can still use Internet Explorer, but Mozilla has the capability to block certain advertisements. If you prefer to surf the web using Internet Explorer you can, but when you play Neopets, use Mozilla to avoid obnoxious adds.
2. Download the add-on called Adblock Plus. Add-ons are files designed to add features to the web browser. These add-ons for Mozilla Firefox as free as well. Download this add-on at Mozilla's website (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865).
3. Shut down Mozilla Firefox while your add-on is downloading. The add-on download window will automatically prompt you to shut down the program. The Firefox browser should restart itself once the add-on installs.
4. Examine the add-on website that automatically opens with the new Firefox. Ensure the first option available, EasyList USA, preselects. Hit the "Subscribe" button in the lower right-hand side of the screen. It will reload the first page where you started the original download.
5. Visit Neopets and test the add-on. This add-on will block advertisements on all sites, though, so if you are interested in seeing advertisements you need to disable the add-on or use a different browser. Disable the add-on by clicking the "Tools" option at the top of your Firefox browser. Select the "Add-ons" option. Another window will open, showing all of your current add-ons. Scroll down the list until you find Adblock Plus. Click on Adblock Plus, and two options will appear to the right hand side. Select the option that says "Disable." Visit this page again to enable the add-on the next time you need it.
