Paid Jobs For Teenagers

Working with animals is one job option for teenagers.

A variety of job opportunities are available for teenagers looking for some extra spending money or to obtain funds for college. Some jobs require little or no experience, while others allow you to take advantage of your unique skills and experiences. In many cases, you'll be able to work after school and/or on weekends. Apply for jobs by visiting the location or by filling out an application online if applicable.

Work with Animals

If you're a teen who loves animals and have experience working with your own pets, you can seek employment in an animal-related field. Kennels and veterinary offices may need kennel assistants to perform tasks such as cleaning cages or taking dogs for walks. Large pet stores need people to work with customers and care for animals that are displayed for sale.

Tutor

If you excel in a particular subject such as math or English, put your expertise to work by tutoring other students after school. Parents of kids who are struggling in school will likely appreciate the help and be willing to pay you for your services. Tutoring can also provide great experience if you wish to pursue a career in academia.

Turn a Hobby Into a Job

If you have a passion for activities such as golf or biking, turn your hobby into a job. The local golf course or country club may need help with landscaping, retrieving golf balls or assisting customers in the pro shop. Biking enthusiasts with a mechanical aptitude can work in a bike repair shop, while those with general knowledge of bikes can work on the sales floor.

Fast Food

Fast food restaurants are often the first foray into the world of work for many teenagers. Fast food restaurants are ubiquitous and offer a variety of entry-level jobs. You may wait on customers, prepare food or clean the restaurant. If you enjoy the fast food business, you could make it a career by becoming a manager or even eventually purchasing your own franchise.

Retail

If you're a teen who likes to hang out at the local mall, apply for a job working at one of the stores. Possible jobs include working as a cashier, stocking shelves or waiting on customers. In addition to getting paid, some retail stores offer generous employee discounts on store merchandise.
