Do Kopi Luwak Coffee

Kopi luwak coffee contains an outer skin known as pergamino.

Kopi luwak coffee is among the most expensive, rarest and flavorful coffee in the world. It has rich, strong aroma and an almost syrupy taste with a hint of chocolate. It is named such because it is made from kopi cherries that have been eaten and digested by a luwak, or palm civet, a cat-like animal found in Southeast Asia. Kopi luwak originates as red coffee cherries, which a luwak picks and eats. Once digested the cherries have the appearance of beans, which are then dried and pounded to remove the pergamino skin to reveal the actual coffee beans. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Grind 2 tablespoons of kopi luwak coffee beans coarsely in a coffee grinder to make 6 ounces of coffee. A coarse grind produces the best results for kopi luwak coffee.

2. Place the ground kopi luwak inside the filter catch of your coffee pot.

3. Pour one pot of fresh, cold water inside the water catch of your coffee pot. Fresh, cold bottled or filtered water will produce the best kopi luwak coffee, as it will not flatten the flavor of the coffee.

4. Turn on the power switch to your coffee pot, and allow the coffee to brew.
