Make Your Own Virtual Pet In Online Games For Kids

Virtual pets can be easy and fun.

Virtual pets are much easier to take care of than real pets. They don't make much noise, they don't require clean-up, and often, they're free. Virtual pets can be a great way to introduce kids to the responsibilities of being a pet owner. It doesn't take long to make an online virtual pet of your own.

Instructions

1. Find a virtual pet online website for kids. Some popular sites are Neopets, Marapets Games and Adoptme Virtual Pets.

2. How lifelike would you like your virtual pet to be?

Decide what kind of Virtual Pet you want. The graphics may help you decide what style of virtual pet you like: realistic, animated or even made-up animals.

3. Check out the site's privacy policy and terms of service. If it is a "kid-safe" site there should be strict rules against inappropriate language and content. Most virtual pet websites require an email address for registration.

4. Create a user name. Kids should avoid using identifying information such as first and last names or full birth dates in their user name. User names should be fun and easy to remember.

5. Some pets are limited edition varieties.

Choose your virtual pet. Look for "limited edition" pets which may only be available for a short time or in limited numbers.

6. Make your pet shine!

Dress or color your pet, if these are options. This is your chance to make your pet unique. Options may be limited at first, but you may be able to find or buy clothes with "points" later.

7. Name your pet. Have fun with your pet's name. Most communities require pet names to be unique, like user names.

8. Explore the community. Play games, take challenges and find fun "events" such as beauty contests or auctions to win points for food. You may be able to build a home for your pets, complete with furnishings.

9. Many virtual pet communities have games and toys to keep your pet happy.

Take care of your virtual pet. Log in to play with it and feed it daily. Even though it is only a virtual pet, you are now responsible for keeping it happy and healthy.
