Money Making Ideas For 12 Year Olds

Twelve-year olds, or tweens, want to expand their interests and show their maturity but need the safety and security of the family. Many tweens are expanding their social skills so it's a good time to explore safe avenues to earn money.

Significance

A 12-year-old can demonstrate her skills and interests by providing services, learning fiscal responsibility and promote her sense of independence. The goal is to appreciate the cost of the items, in time and effort as well as price.

Year-Round

A responsible child can set up baby-sitting, dog-walking or helper services, such as carrying groceries or yard work. A child with good grades can tutor his peers or with younger children. A child fluent in a foreign language can tutor in that language.

Summer

Summer provides children with more flexible time that doesn't interfere with academics or school functions. They can offer to collect mail and water plants or walk the dogs of family, friends and neighbors on vacation. They also can sell items, such as books, toys and bakery items.

Skills and Talents

Tweens can do basic cooking (such as cupcakes), basic computer support, party help, writing and selling crafts such as sewn stuffed animals. Tweens typically learn a variety of skills during school, and these can be put to use into valuable services.

Home Office Support

Tweens can learn basic office organization by servicing as home office assistants responsible for shredding, organizing files and books, stapling and checking supplies. Demonstrating put together binders and packages using an assembly-line process provides 12-year-olds with valuable skills to create efficiency.
